About the Bioresources Development Conference 2026
The Bioresources Development Conference 2026 (BDC26) was convened at the Bioresources Development Centre (BIODEC), Odi, Bayelsa State, as a strategic platform for advancing the sustainable development, utilization and commercialization of Nigeria’s rich and diverse bioresources. The conference brought together researchers, scientists, academics, policymakers, government representatives, entrepreneurs, industry practitioners and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share research findings and foster collaborations aimed at harnessing Nigeria’s bioresources for sustainable national development.
This edition of the NABDA Journal of Biotechnology Research features selected scientific papers presented at the BDC26 Conference under the sub-theme, “Bridging the Gap between Biotechnology and Wealth Creation.” The contributions highlight research, innovations, and emerging applications of agricultural biotechnology with the potential to enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen food and nutrition security, promote sustainable agricultural practices, increase value addition, and drive economic development. Collectively, the papers demonstrate the potential of biotechnology to translate scientific knowledge and innovation into practical solutions that support agricultural transformation and create pathways for inclusive economic growth.
